Garment Description
The final cape does not incorporate any surface decorations. In fact, it is very plain and simplistic to represent the traditional peasant clothing. It also did not use large amounts of fabrics, as fabrics would have been expensive back then, thus they would have been really frugal with the amount of fabric they use with each garment.
The cape has a high-low hem where the shortest length of the hem sits around the knee whereas the longest length sits somewhere between the middle of the calves and above the ankle. It sits fair closely to the body, however it is not body fitting thus the wearer looses their body shape when wearing this garment. There are slits on the left and right side of the garment to allow the wearer to slip their arms through allowing for movement. This garment was created with three distinctive panels which are stitched together to create one massive panel. It is closed with a drawstring closure, allowing the wearer to adjust the gathering of the garment.
This cape has a hood which cannot be taken off and is fairly large in size. It is incorporated into the final design as peasants would have had to complete chores outside, thus offering protection to their hair and face.
