Design Inspiration & Research
The annotated images (figure 1, 2, 3,4 and 5) illustrate different outfits worn in the medieval period. They show a contrast of the upper class compared to the lower class (peasant). In the images it is obvious those who are of upper class as they wear extravagant gowns made out of strong and/or decorative fabrics. Where as, the peasants wore simple colours and simple dresses, with undergarments which are seen. These few images have inspired my group and I to create a medieval outfit for a peasant as they deserve to have an outfit which is well thought about and well manufactured, however is still reflective of the outfits peasants wore. Figure 5 shows a squared facing which will be used on the final garment. (Please see comments made on the images for specific details).
